Call me sentimental

I completely forgot to observe Canadian Thanksgiving but as many of my friends in Paris are from the States we are doing American Thanksgiving up right. Turkey, gravy, and all those yummy things in between. Now is as good a time as any to reflect on all the things we have to be thankful for. My list for this year includes:

Obama
Lanvin's spring/summer line
Years abroad
My parents that support years abroad (and pretty much everything else i do)
Free speech
A sister a train ride away
Brunch
Amazing friends spread all over the world
Unlimited texting
Dual Canadian and UK citizenship
BBC journalism
A huge bathroom in a tiny studio
Kir cassis
My physical and mental health

It's always good to reflect on life and think about all the things, small and big, that make our day-to-day existence worthwhile. Take time to appreciate the people around you and let them know how special they are. - Okay, are you rolling your eyes yet??? - I know it sounds trite but I stand by my sappy sentiments. If you love someone, tell them, and if you're fighting with someone, hug it out bitch! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Closet full of clothes

David Bellemére's photographs are always packed with sensuality and good taste.

We fumed and screamed in our mountain nook, mad drunken Americans in the mighty land

This editorial by Jason Lee Parry reminds me of my favorite Kerouac classic:
On the Road

I want to spontaniously pick up and have experimental adventures through midland America.

There's a stillness to these photographs that really gets me.

"What's it going to be then, eh?"

Rainy days in Paris were meant for curling up with a good book and a steaming cup of coffee. I'm spending my afternoon getting lost in one of my old favorites A Clockwork Orange. I've read it far too many times but I just can't resist reading it again. Sick, twisted, and impossible to put down. This book is one of the greats.

Don't waste your time on the movie; Burgess' vision reaches its apex in print.

real men wear pearls

I felt obliged to finally give the boys some love, although I'm not convinced that Chanel menswear will ever generate a following. But go ahead men of the world, prove me wrong!

It takes a supremely confident man to pull off a strand of pearls but this guy does it with pizazz.

Ode to over-the-knee socks

I spent most of my formative years in a uniform so I have a great aversion to the poly blend hell that is knee socks, but I've recently developed an affection for over-the-knee socks. It's amazing how a few extra inches of fabric can take you out of a Britney video and into a legitimate fashion choice. If it's warm enough where you are you can wear them with bare legs or as I've been doing lately, layer them with tights underneath. Oxford flats are ideal for these but they can also look super adorable peeking out of boots. Buy a pair in black or better yet smokey grey and layer them over colored tights. Red, navy, green, the possibilities are endless. If you really want to be avant-garde you can take a stab at this season's garter trend and hitch up your socks. Precarious but certainly worth a try.

I could tell you all about my wonderful and ridiculous Parisian life, the places I go, the things I do, and the people I see, but that would defeat the purpose wouldn't it? Read and try to imagine. This is my Paris report.
